Yesterday I saw Puccini's Il trittico which is being performed for the first time in the Finnish National Opera.

Each part has a different director, and they are very different indeed. The order of performance was Suor Angelica, Il tabarro, Gianni Schicchi. Suor Angelica bored me, but some other viewers were delighted, to judge by their commentaries during the intermission. I for my part enjoyed Il tabarro, gloomy, passianate, and dramatic. As for Gianni Schicchi, directed by Ville Saukkonen, it was entertaining of course, but otherwise I thought it had been piled up from props and ideas left over from Vilppu Kiljunen's Un ballo in maschera last year - situated in Berlusconian Italy, etc.
